ÜBER UNS
The choir itself was founded in 2012 as part of a project led by the association “aCapella Netzwerk e.V.” Since then the choir has seen an immense growth and today incorporates 45 singers burning for modern a-cappella music.
The repertoire ranges from sentimental soul ballads and grooving pop songs to well-known jazz standards. Aside from countless concert performances, appearances at their own a-capella- festival “SING:X”, events like “Jazztage Dresden”, “Palais Sommer Dresden”, “Total Choral” in Berlin or the TV show of show host Jan Böhmermann have marked the highlights of the past years.
In 2018 their first album “Debüt!” was released.
OUR CONDUCTOR
Michael Blessing studied vocal pedagogy in Dresden and cultural management at the German academy of management. Along with his studies he specialized within Jazz/Pop choral conducting. Until 2018 he led the talent development courses at the high school “Gymnasium Dresden-Plauen”.
In 2012 he founded Jazzchor Dresden and since then has been the conductor of the choir. One important aspect of Blessing’s vision is the concept of the “Intelligent choir”- a continuously evolving sample of patterns to communicate with the choir to give more autonomy to each singer- which has been developed by Jim Daus Hjernø, a professor from Denmark.
