Founded in 2012 as Jazzchor Dresden, after 12 years of choir history we finally have a name that fits our musical identity and our performance: VOCANO. It is authentic, just like us!
VOCANO presents electrifying vocal pop and rousing sounds to celebrate and recharge your batteries.
VOCANO stands for the power and passion that burns in each and every one of us and can only be carried out into the world together as one big whole.
VOCANO thrives on the community of strong individuals who unite, support each other, shape choral work democratically and thus constantly grow together.
VOCANO connects people regardless of origin, language, gender or culture.
VOCANO is all this and much more! With our music, we want to open hearts, inspire and touch people and make the world a little brighter and warmer.
OUR CONDUCTOR
Michael Blessing studied vocal pedagogy in Dresden and cultural management at the German academy of management. Along with his studies he specialized within Jazz/Pop choral conducting. Until 2018 he led the talent development courses at the high school “Gymnasium Dresden-Plauen”.
In 2012 he founded Jazzchor Dresden and since then has been the conductor of the choir. One important aspect of Blessing’s vision is the concept of the “Intelligent choir”- a continuously evolving sample of patterns to communicate with the choir to give more autonomy to each singer- which has been developed by Jim Daus Hjernø, a professor from Denmark.
